What keeps the cage running up and down the mast without swaying side to side? These guide rollers.

Each cage carries one group on either side of the roof, three φ110 × 50 rollers per group. The rims bear on the outside face of the mast chords and roll along them. They take the horizontal force from wind and eccentric load, hold the cage on the mast centreline, and keep both the rack-and-pinion centre distance and the clearance of the anti-fall safety gear from drifting.

Rollers are wear items: replace them when clearance is out of tolerance, the rim is unevenly worn or rotation seizes. In routine checks, compare wear across the three rollers and look for loose pins.
