Tower Head · ZN-TC-HEAD-01
Tower Head (Apex)
Truss structure atop the mast, anchoring the jib and counter-jib pendants and taking their tension.
← Back to crane parts
The tower head, or apex, is the truss that caps the mast and gives the jib and counter-jib their support points.

Construction
A welded truss of steel tubes or sections with a central apex, pendant anchor points and, on many cranes, mounting positions for the hoist and trolley pulleys.

Role on the crane
The tower head anchors the jib and counter-jib pendants and takes their tension, so the working arm and the counter-jib are held in their correct working positions and the loads are fed back into the mast.
Inspection and maintenance
- Inspect pendant anchor pins and welds for wear and cracks.
- Check the truss for deformation, corrosion and loose bolts.
- Confirm pulley and sheave condition where the head carries rope.
