Base Frame
Load-bearing base frame anchored to the concrete foundation, carrying the full vertical and overturning loads.
← Back to crane parts
The base frame is the foundation of the whole machine. It sits on the concrete foundation and forms the fixed foot that every mast section and the slewing unit ultimately rely on.

Construction
A heavy welded steel frame with four corner seats matched to the mast chords, levelling points and anchor points. It is anchored to the foundation through embedded legs or foundation bolts cast into the concrete.

Role on the crane
The base frame spreads the crane's vertical load and overturning moment over the foundation, keeping the mast plumb and the machine stable under the worst combination of load and wind.
Inspection and maintenance
- Verify foundation concrete strength and level before erection; the frame is only as good as what it stands on.
- Check anchor bolts and embedded legs for tightness, corrosion and concrete cracking.
- Confirm levelling and re-check after the first working cycle.
